Wickersley Youth U12s Girls Make History!!!

Wickersley Youth started 35 years ago in 1983 and our U12s Girls became the clubs first ever girls team by to be County Champions  of all South Yorkshire and surrounding areas.

On Thursday 26th Aprul they won the prestigious title by beating Worksop Town Girls 4-0 with goals from Martha Roper, Amelia Beckett, Crystal Lisle and Katie Curtis. This rates up their with any on the pitch achievements in the clubs history and shows how strong girls football is now becoming at Wickersley Youth.

Unfancied before the season started against heavyweights in local girls football Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United , Barnsley and Huddersfield Ladies the girls achieved success against all the odds. Their football and togetherness has been outstanding all season and after hovering in 2nd and 3rd place up to December  when the girls then embarked on a tremendous 9 match winning run which included wins away at Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield scoring 10 and conceding 0 and also beating Barnsley 3-2 at home, ending with the 4-0 victory at Worksop which won the title with a game to spare.

This seasons title winning squad are Ameila Beckett, Katie Curtis, Emily Dean, Lucy Holmes, Maddison Lees, Crystal Lisle, Ellie Mayfield, Lilia Oldfield, Martha Roper, Chloe Salt, Freya Sutherland, Shannon Swann and Elizabeth Thorpe The County Title is now added to the other 3 trophies these talented girls have added to their seasons impressive trophy cabinet.

The girls have now been invited and will be going to the F.A. Approved ACES National Football Tournemount in July at Nottingham. The tournemount for all the champions around the U.K. the 40 highest ranked teams to find the Champions of the U.K.

They have had a season they and our club will never forget.
