Wickersley Youth Under 12 Girls win another tournament

Wickersley Youth under 12 girls took part in the ESF Football Festival at Skegness Butlins. 12 teams from all around the U.K attended. The girls played 3 games on the Saturday winning 3-1, 3-0 & 2-0.
Then on Sunday won our first game 5-0 to qualify before losing our final group game to tough Newcastle 2-0 to finish 2nd in our group and into the semi finals. In the semis we played the unbeaten other group winners Battyeford Sporting club belles from the West Riding league and in our best performance of the Tournament won 1-0 with a goal from Amelia Beckett and it should have been a lot more. In the Final we meet Newcastle again and this time stepped up our game against a very physical team and deservedly won 1-0 and took the cup with a late winner off Crystal Lisle.
We were presented our trophys by Sue Smith, Paul Merson and Ray Parlour. All 12 players the 11 who played and we took an injured Freya Sutherland were fantastic on and off the pitch all weekend. A extra bonus was Crystal Lisle who also won the goal of the Tournament with a outstanding bullet header.
It was a team Curtis double with Katie Curtis and Jane Curtis been here whilst Len Curtis and his son were winning their own cup back home on the same day
It’s the girls 3rd trophy this season and they are chasing the big one the u12s County title (South Yorkshire Champions) needing 2 points from their remaining 2 games to lift the title and complete a quadruple of honours this season.
Big well done also to managers Geoff Swann and Oliver Dean
