🔵🔴🔵🔴🔵CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT: Wickersley Youth Junior Football Club has secured Ruby Cook Playing Fields Lease.🔵🔴🔵🔴🔵
Wickersley Youth are proud to announce that it has reached an agreement with Dalton Parish Council for the 25 year lease of Ruby Cook playing fields.
The announcement is following an 18 month period of talks between the council and life president Bob Sanderson. Bob has worked tirelessly to bring about a positive result for the club.
This is a huge moment for the club and allows a base of operations for our younger players to play and train.
Wickersley Youth will manage the site which will be used for young girls and boys aged 4 to 12 years old to play football.
There are also plans to open up the facilities, pavilion and field for wider community use in partnership with the Parish Council and other local partners.
Members of the public will continue to enjoy access to the site for recreational purposes and we look forward to increasing the use and improving the facilities at Ruby Cook for the benefit of our club and the local community.
Wickersley Youth currently supports 26 teams and over 400 local children, proving a safe and accommodating place to learn to play football.

Chairman Len Curtis said “It’s a very proud moment for our club and in our history to secure a local base to cater for the 450+ boys and girls who play for Wickersley Youth every weekend. As one of the largest junior clubs in South Yorkshire with over 27 teams, we finally have somewhere where we can call home.

I want to thank Dalton Parish Council for all their support and a huge thank you to our solicitors Irwin Mitchell who offered their services free of charge to help support the local community. Thank you also to the local residents who have been incredibly supportive.

The Wickersley Youth Committee have worked tirelessly and no one more than Bob Sanderson who has drove this project all the way. Bob’s energy and passion to make this happen has been truly superb.

We now have a facility which will be invested in, cared for and will truly become a local asset the community can be proud of for many years to come. We have already upgraded the car park, the kitchen and the building to enable us to sell food every weekend. A special mention goes to Will Burden who has worked tirelessly and brilliantly on the grounds and making sure they have never looked better.

We look forward to many happy years ahead at Ruby Cook which will enable us to develop and support the children in our local community”
We hope to enjoy many years of coaching, supporting and developing the young people of Wickersley and Surrounding Areas
